Holga 35 AFX - it’s ok

uploaded from flickr.

I am nearly sure that the Holga 35AFX is not as “ooh ah” as the 120MF. My first roll of 24 had only about 6 pictures that came out–which actually would have been more, but Sams Club chose to not develop a significan number of pictures i had taken inside of the store (the pictures were not there but the negatives were–this was the second time a sams/walmart has done this, the first time a random picture of a coworker was removed/never developed from my roll).

I got my second and third developed at Ritz (Cameras West in Tukwila). All the pics came out just fine. I did take time to tape the camera up a bit in the front and back on each roll (re-taping on reloading), although i don’t think there’s as much light-leak as the 120 has.

I thought the photos looked pretty plain, as in something I could have taken with a disposable, but with the exception of the one in this post, the others in the flickr set are untouched. they feel a bit better after scanning.

i’m going to take some time to rig this to take square pics, and remove much of the taping on a roll to see how it turns out…then all i need is another beautiful day like today was to shoot. :)

KKK App

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

some lunchtime reading here (before i step out for a few minutes to snap on the Holga!)

in the 20’s the criteria for a KKK applicant was:

“…white, male Gentile person of temperate habits, sound in mind and a believer in the tenets of the Christian religion, the maintenance of White Supremacy and the principles of pure Americanism”

the moment we begin to confuse Christ’s ideals with “the American Way”, we fall down a slippery slope.

very interesting article from my hometown newspaper, no less, by way of Negrophile.

what’s been going on?

mainly waiting with baited breath for my Holga to arrive (it’s a 35mm AF so sue me emma).

working like a nut on a work project, learning a ton, but yesterday was a bear.

had a wonderful Easter Weekend; in telling the story of the passover, the blood, the Lamb, and His blood, to my kids, i was wowed once again on how great an artist Yahweh is. so fresh. I’ve heard his name mentioned as “I Will Be” (cf. “I Am”) , and it makes a lot of sense.

had dinner at the floyd’s fresh mansion. i gotta throw up a pic of the drained lake. straight out of mordor. slept longer than we have in about 6 months, probably a year. we gotta do that one again.
