as you can see, this is when my film started slipping. the rewind button was stuck in the depressed position, ensuring that any tiny pressure (in this case the camera back) on the camera, would prevent the film from advancing properly.
it seems to be OK for now. if it happens again, i’m exchanging the camera.
okay so here’s a note on this shot, and shooting in general. i’m finding myself super-concsious of when i’m aiming for a “street shot” when i’m doing colour or black and white. colour, as people mentioned, can be difficult with street shots. ‘cos from what i understand, one of the aims is to capture specific human moments, and “bad” colour can divert attention to that with colour, i believe that the added dimension to a shot should be a moment where colour also plays a role in the telling, to an extent…either by virtue of being a dang good colour coincidence, or some weird juxtaposition. i guess there’d be a 4th dimension too, the film choice. there are shots where the colour ends up working quite well because of a specific colour combination or processing choice (i’m even to the point where i get itchy trying to determine whether i’ll cross process a roll because either it contains *that shot* that shouldn’t be, or should be…in this case i floundered back and forth, and decided that i wanted regular slides for this roll, because i wasn’t capturing the “xpro kinda stuff” too much with this). if you shoot with a crummy film, or make the wrong choice, either the garishness or blandness of the colours will totally distract me to what’s actually going on in the scene.
hope this rambling made a little sense. i must want to remind myself of this or else i wouldn’t have taken the time out to write it.:)
