i witnessed a street dude (sd) ask for a coffee this morning from people going into the shop. he wouldn’t stop…finally, this one dude (dude) said “yeah”, and goes in (i follow). as the guy orders the coffee for him, sd sees dude eyeing the sammiches, and so sd asks “think i can get a sandwich too?” dude laughs and says “naw…” after a couple of seconds dude laughs to himself, and says “yeah man”.

He *had* to have been thinking “no shame in his game–he ‘deserves’ a sammich!”

This made me think of the folk who would be all on Jesus the Christ when he was here, asking for miracles, and in particular the one woman who had said something to Jesus, after he first “dissed” her, about “even the dogs eat the scraps from the master’s table”…My take — He was amused, impressed, and appreciative of one who didn’t think so highly of themselves, and blessed her.

It was a lesson for me, really, to not let Yahweh rest, remember to have a desparate need for Him, and, on earth, let go of my shame and artificial worry about what people are going to think about me if i go for what i feel strongly about (i’m sure dude was just hungry, and he wasn’t backing off ’til he got some food). Of course, having a basis in fact helps, but I pray that all your convictions are somehow rooted in a perceived truth that’s close to reality. :)
