not well

mommy had to be gone all day yesterday. my son woke up yesterday morning and jumped in the bed with me to lay for a while…”that’s not like him, but i’ll take it” is what i thought, as i went back to get a few more winks. got up again, with his “neck hurting” — then his voice started to give way…we went ahead and got all of us together to go to the park later on to “kick the soccer ball”, and while we were doing so, he started hacking again and couldn’t keep up…i asked him if he was sure (i know that he’s known for drama a lot of the time :) and he said yeah, and went to the bench to lay down. he stayed most of the time, getting up once or twice to try to enjoy himself, but most of the time he was just out of it.
went home, gave him a nap (he layed far longer than he usually would!) we got up and headed out to pick up some cold supplies & food accessories (against my better judgement). hung out….
5 this morning he wakes up going slightly ballistic about not being able to breathe and “I NEED MY MEDICINNNNEE” (it was actually hilarious to hear…i’m telling you, he’s a king of drama), but mommy calmed him down.
long story shorter, mommy took him to the emergency room and he’s diagnosed with pneumonia.
what a word. i still get kinda freaked when i hear it, because my sister died of pneumonia as a baby. I had to quickly remind myself that that was 30 some years ago, though, and medicine has advanced quite a bit since then! i’m hoping he’ll be better shortly. i generally make it like “it’s nothing” and it’ll be okay, but inside i’m kinda freaking out. but he’s 5 and can’t read all of this right now so i feel cool writing it here that there’s a slight tinge of concerned, overshadowed with the knowledge that he really will be okay.
